Paul's 5-year old daughter, Sofia, wants a back yard play house with pink walls, a white roof and curtains in the windows. Not one to disappoint, Paul hops in his truck and heads to the hardware store. At first, Sofia's request seemed pretty clear but now that Paul and his empty cart are in the lumber aisle, the request does not seem clear at all. How big should this play house be? How much space is in my back yard? Should I use wood or aluminum? Hip or gable roof? What if it rains? How many windows? Raised or slab foundation?

When developing medium or big size web applications, teamwork is usually distributed across different environments. For instance, developers work on a DEV environment, while some other specialized team checks for bugs or broken features on a QA environment (which ideally is other than the DEV environment which tends to be unstable due to continuous code changes). Changes usually go to STAGING environment to check that everything is in a good state and none of the features already implemented are broken before pushing everything to a PRODUCTION environment for the application to be seen by the public. Moreover, each developer should have a working copy of the whole application on his/her local machine.
